Programming Note: Shorter Episodes

I have decided to scale back future episodes to between 25 and 30 minutes. The first two episodes were close to 40 minutes each, and they felt long at every stage of the production process. Originally, I wanted to cover one chapter from the book in each episode. However, it quickly became obvious that this would result in some pretty lengthy episodes. In fact, I had to pull up well short of the end of chapter 2 in the second episode, and it still ended up at 37 minutes.

So from now on, I’m not going to stick to the chapter divisions from the novel and will instead find a convenient stopping point once I get past 25 minutes. I think this will make the episodes easier for me to produce and more digestible for my listeners. It does mean it will take longer to finish the book, but hey, when a project starts out being a three-year commitment, what’s a few more months?
